It was the chairman of the foundation, Jayanthi Pillay, who handed over the CanonIR 2520 photocopier, which has cost R21,000, to Lina Pillay, special education needs co-ordinator and Louisianne Theresine, chairperson of the social & welfare committee of La Retraite school.
The handover ceremony took place recently at Itech Computers.
Among those attending the ceremony were D.V. Sharma, general manager PillayR Group; Rajasekar, head of finance; Rajasekar Natarajan, business head IT operations; Arthi Kalidasan and other members of the foundation.
Thanking PillayR Arts Foundation for the photocopier, Ms Pillay said: “It is going to help the school immensely as we are now entering exam period and this kind gesture will help us cope with all the photocopy and other related requirements of the school. This contribution is very important as it comes amid the Covid-19 situation when resources are really difficult to come by.”
On behalf of the foundation chairman Pillay said that the foundation always
wants to assist in the area of education and she was happy to learn that such equipment would be of great help in coping with exam pressure when photocopy requirements are normally high.
She added that the foundation will continue to work closely to support such needs of schools in future.
