The Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) has received a cheque for R250,000 from the Pillay R group.

The presentation ceremony took place at Stad Linite on Friday afternoon and the Pillay R Group’s donation will go towards helping the central region’s football academy which was officially opened last year.

SFF chairman Elvis Chetty accepted the cheque on behalf of the academy in the ceremony attended by SFF officials, Pillay R group employees as well as the academy students of Belonie secondary school.

Mr Chetty was extremely grateful with the help from the Pillay R group when he spoke to Sports Nation after the short ceremony.

“We would like to seize this opportunity to welcome the Pillay R group to the growing football family. We also appreciate their help which will be invaluable to the centrally based academy more precisely,” Mr Chetty told Sports Nation.

As for Ramu Pillay, the company’s managing director, he was also happy that his group has been able to bring their support to our national sport.

“It is just remarkable for such a small population to have such a wide interest for football. We felt that with the upcoming World Cup this donation is opportune and we hope that one day we can even qualify for the World Cup. We wanted to support the youth and hope they take their training seriously and show devotion as their commitment will have a bearing on our future support for this sport,” Mr Pillay told Sports Nation.
