The Pillay R Group, headed by its chairman Ramu Pillay, has donated 200 gifts to persons living with a disability within the community and at the Vocational Training centre (VTC) located at North East Point.
The handover of the donation took place on New Year’s eve at the Family House, Bel Eau, in the presence of the Minister for Youth, Sports and Family, Marie Céline Zialor; Mr Pillay’s wife and daughter, and eight disabled persons from the community and VTC.
As it was her birthday that day, Mrs Pillay had the honour to symbolically present the eight disabled persons with their gifts. The rest were to be distributed to others by the ministry.
In his remark for the occasion, Mr Pillay said although the company has not been able, for the second year in row, to host the annual end of year party for the special persons due to Covid-19, they were very happy to make such donation to keep the connection and to bring some joy to persons living with disabilities.
He added that he hoped this year (2022) things will get better and the company will be able to host its end of year activities for the community which is very special on their calendar.
He wished them, and all present, the best for 2022.
On behalf of persons living with disabilities, Ibrahim Dodin thanked Mr Pillay and his family to have thought of them for the festive season, especially in this time of the pandemic, through their generous donation.
He also wished Mr Pillay and family, and all present, a happy New Year.
The guests were hosted to refreshments and snacks after the gift presentation.
